Composer’s note: I wrote “COVID” as a remembrance of how it felt for us–musicians–to go through the pandemic. Besides cancelled performances, awkward social distancing restrictions, and the technical nightmare of giving lessons remotely, many musicians have said the isolation and loss of community was the hardest part. This piece tries to capture some of those feelings, ending with the glimmer of hope that soon we will be musicking “as normal” again.
